I'm not gonna Lie. This is probably the Best Proposal Ever.
What a "melancholy object" it is to see nearly one out of eight Americans living in poverty. I feel great sorrow every time I pass by a homeless person and don’t give them money. This issue has reached to the very core of my heart, compelling me to find a solution. After spending weeks in thought, I have finally reached a positive answer.
First and foremost, we must eliminate any federal aid that may help the children of poverty. Naturally, "food stamps, student loan access, and federal work-study opportunities" will be cut immediately (Business Insider). Presently, political legislation leads the poor children to "grow up either turning thieves" and other criminals. Absolutely despicable! Instead, we must teach these "savage and inhuman" youngsters to fend for themselves. Our country prides itself on relentless work; therefore, the only way the impoverished will acquire strong perseverance is to take away any aid. Thankfully, our current leaders find no "demonstrable evidence" in the success of programs intended to "feed and educate children" (Business Insider). Although I am pleased with such comments, further reform must be implemented to expound on this success.
Secondly, if we were to build shacks, the "constant breeders" will not bother the respectable people of this world. Recently, the bombardment for money- which is undoubtedly used for drugs- reached a threshold: people are annoyed and quite honestly tired of having to look after the poor. Of course, by creating these cheap shelters, we can shut them up.
Related to the previous point, it is advantageous for us to lie to them. We will tell them many planned improvements like building extravagant homes so they’ll vote for us. As soon as this happens and we are elected, we won't do anything. In fact, as I said before, we might even take away. Trust me when I say this tactic has a two-fold benefit: more money will go to us and the poor will leave us alone for a while. It's genius! And I am thankful to have participated in the creation of this theory.
As you can see by my authority on the subject, my proposition is very strong. If such actions existed, I can say with absolute seriousness that these stupid people will have a better life, an American Dream of sorts. Period.
Wow, Micheal! Adapting the tone of the piece is one thing, but crafting it and making it your own is another! I loved all the sarcasm and irony injected into the piece, especially the point about the American Dream at the end. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool post Mr. Davis. I really like the humor in the title and the more modern "vernacular" used.
ReplyDeleteI really like how created your own proposal and completely adapted Swift's style! The topic you chose can be easily related to many of us, as a lot of people have walked by homeless people before. Nice post! :)
